We're NUTS About Health

Tomorrow is National Nut Day, even though we think that's something to celebrate daily! Don't underestimate these small but mighty powerhouses that can be added to almost everything you eat throughout the day. Nuts come in many shapes and sizes, but they all have a ton of nutritional value for their size and price.

Nuts are packed with heart healthy fats (monounsaturated + polyunsaturated), protein, fiber, minerals, amino acids, and vitamins that will change your life. Some nuts even have anti-inflammatory properties and should always be eaten in moderation. They also contain antioxidants, which help fight free radical cancer causing cells in your body. Antioxidants in nuts will assist in lowering LDL (health damaging) cholesterol in your body to help fight again heart disease. Adding nuts to your diet can even lower your risk of cardiovascular disease and lower higher cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

A small amount of nuts daily are a perfect snack because it will keep you fuller for longer due to their higher healthy fat and fiber content. They are also a low cab snack that can fit into any diet, vegetarian, non-vegetarian, etc. Be mindful though, a recommended serving for most nuts is usually 1/4 cup, or the size of your palm. Always check the serving sizes on the label to ensure your eating the proper daily amount.

Adding nuts in your diet will also assist in weight loss or weight maintenance. Not all of the calories contained in nuts will get absorbed by the body. Some of the calories and fat stay within the nut due to the high amount of fiber, but this doesn't mean you should eat bigger portions because of this benefit! Your body can't digest fiber, but it will promote healthy prebiotic culture for improved gut health. Improved gut health will lower your risk of diabetes, obesity, and inflammation.

There are so many delicious ways to enjoy nuts and a wide array of flavors to choose from! Nut butters, nut milk, chopped nuts or whole, nut "cheese" substitutes, nut yogurt, the list goes on! Try changing up a few items in your diet with nut replacements to live a hot & healthy life. Bottom line, we're NUTS about health + wellness and want you to change your life so you can live it to the fullest.
